The discovery of youtube.com has been one of my best net experiences. Have discovered many clips of bands that I previously thought I would never see in action - mainly from the sixties. The Left Banke clip below a great example and perfectly in line with this weeks musical mellowness. The Left Banke : surely proof that although he was a mere fetus at the time, Stuart Murdoch's pioneering baroque pop sensibilities were being ripped off even then. Ahem !
Walk Away Renee is one of a trio of Left Banke songs with a common subject matter and an interesting story behind them. Essentially, guitarist...actually, I'm not going to tell you ! Great song later covered by such disparate acts as The Four Tops and Billy Bragg.
A little Folk connection too. At our last gig we took to the stage to a Left Banke song (She May Call you Up Tonight) courtesy of a Jens Lekman sample.
Talking of the Folk, some news on the gig front. We will be playing with Monica Queen on Saturday May 6th as part of this years Tigerfest. Hopefully more gigs in the pipeline
